People in the UK struggling with debt are accelerating their IVA applications because they fear being intimidated by bailiffs, who have increased power as a result of new legislation.
A study shows that since October 2006, 64% of bailiffs are guilty of harassing and intimidating people, 40% were unclear about heir powers of entry, 25% threatened people with jail and 42% charged excessive fees.
The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) have promised to look into the matter.
