The 2008 budget is said to have dissapointed high street banks who say that it hasn't done enough to encourage people to start saving and reducing debts.
Nationwide are just one group to voice their concerns that the government hasn't carried on the momentum from last year, where they increased the amount of tax free savings consumers could put into an ISA.
However, the increased ISA allowance only comes into play next month with Nationwide commenting it can only have a positive effect on the personal finances of UK savers.
