Figures come under the spotlight

Goverment figures that suggest that the number of personal banktupcties in the UK have fallen in the third quarter of 2007 have come under furthe criticism from experts.

Many analysts have accused the figures of hiding the reality of the massive personal debt problems the UK is having to burden.

Steve Treharne, Head of Personal Insolvency at KPMG is one expert to make public is objections to the numbers.

“These figures don’t show the number of people who are living on the edge of insolvency or those entering debt management plans. As opportunities to refinance become more difficult to come by these people may be forced to face the reality of their situation and consider personal insolvency as their best option.”
