The government has been called upon by the National Association of Estate Agents to offer more help to those struggling with mortgage debt.
The group say that the government can offer tax relief to those suffering the most during the credit crunch, leaving them with more money to pay off their mortgages.
Peter Bolton King from the NAEA commented, "What is clear is that interest rates are dislocated from the situation and that the banks are not passing on any interest rate benefits to customers, if anything the mortgage rates are getting tighter."
